It's fall. Our summer breeders are gone or going, but there are many species that stay here year round and many birds that spent the summer elsewhere are gradually returning for us to enjoy. The birds below have been seen recently. All of these are young birds, born earlier this year. Some like the ospreys, cranes, and sandpiper fly south. The others will be with us throughout the colder months. They will continue to grow their adult plumage and, like their parents, forage locally for food.
